Fill Me with Spiritual Hunger / Individuality (Elementary) & God Made Us to do Big Things (Preschool)
Family Discussion Guide
Discuss the questions below with your family. These can be asked during mealtimes, in the car, before bed, etc.)
Adults Ask:
For Elementary: We studied something Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27. We all have a gift; a way that God has uniquely wired us through the Holy Spirit. Rather than being jealous of someone’s else’s gift, we can make the most of our own gifts, combine them with others’ gifts, and make a bigger difference!
Have you ever been on a good team? What made it good?
How can we use our gifts together to make a greater difference at school? At home?
Have you ever found yourself wishing you had a talent or a skill like someone else? Or have you just thought your gift isn’t all that important? What should we do when we find ourselves comparing what we can do with what someone else can do?
For Preschoolers: Today we wrapped up our series on David and how God used him to do BIG things! David praised God for making him strong and courageous and we can take time to praise God too!
What is something that you can praise God for?
Which story about David was your favorite and why:
David being told he would be King
David protecting the sheep
David battling Goliath
David caring for his friend, Mephibosheth
David praising God
Let’s say the Bible verse together one more time (and record your child saying it so you have it later on):
“Be strong and courageous (cross fists over chest).
Do not be afraid (cross hands back and forth)...
for the Lord your God (pointng up)
goes with you,” (hands on hips)
Deuteronomy 31:6 (Open hands like a book.)
Kids Ask:
What does it mean to hunger after God?
What person from the Bible did the Pastor preach about? Tell me the story in your own words.
What changes do you need to make in your life so that you are filling yourself with more of God?
