Fill Me with Spiritual Thirst / Contentment (Elementary) & I Can Thank God For Everything (Preschool)

Adults Ask:
For Elementary: Wanting lots of stuff can be a problem. Many people live their lives searching for more - more stuff, more clothes, more toys, the list goes on and on. They want this stuff, when they have perfectly good stuff where they live already. We need to learn to be okay with what we have; we need to learn what it means to be content. The Bible gives us great ideas and examples of individuals who chose to be content with their circumstances. This week we learned about Paul. Paul wrote that he learned how to be content no matter what circumstance he was facing - which is pretty remarkable because when Paul wrote this, he was in prison!
When is it hardest for you to be content?
Do you have to be happy with what you have in order to be content?
Read this Bible passage to your children: Philippians 4:11b-13. Who gives us the strength we need to be content?
For Preschoolers: This month we are going to teach our preschoolers that we can “Thank God For Everything!” Today we took a look at Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz. They were a family, although they were not your typical family. But even still, they were SO thankful for each other!
Along with your preschooler, list 10 things you are thankful for.
See how many people in your family your child can list. After they say their name, you say, “Thank you, God!” for them.
Who was your child’s favorite person in the story of Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz. Why?
Teach your child the Bible verse for the month. Include the motions for more fun!
“I will give thanks (thumbs to chest)
to the Lord (point up)
with my whole heart.” (hands over heart)
Psalm 111:1 ESV (Open hands like a book.)
Kids Ask:
What does it mean to thirst after God?
How can we be filled with living water?
What does it mean to “host the Holy Spirit well?”
