Fill Me with Intentional Living / Contentment (Elementary) & I Can Thank God For Everything (Preschool)
Family Discussion Guide
Discuss the questions below with your family. These can be asked during mealtimes, in the car, before bed, etc.)
Adults Ask:
For Elementary: We may not be happy with what we have or the circumstances we find ourselves in. But, because of what God has done for us, we can shift our focus from what we don’t have and focus on what we do have. This week, we took a look at the story of King Ahab and what happened when he didn’t get something he wanted. Bottom Line: Wanting more and more can make you miserable.
Whose vineyard did King Ahab want? How did he get it?
What was King Ahab’s consequence?
What is the difference between wanting something and being greedy?
What can you do if you find yourself wanting more and more?
For Preschoolers: This week we learned about the faithful friendship of Jonathan and David, and how thankful they were for each other. Jonathan wasn’t just thankful with his words, he showed David he was thankful with his actions by sharing special things that belonged to him. We can show our friends we are thankful for them, too!
What were the items that Jonathan gave David?
Who are your friends at church?
Can you tell me who five of your friends are? Let’s pray for each of them right now!
Kids Ask:
What does it mean to live intentionally?
How can God actually change our perspective when we walk with Him?
As a family, how can we be more intentional with one another this week?
