Overflow In Me: The Supernatural Life / Self-Control (Elementary) & Jesus Teachers Me Important Things (Preschool)
Family Discussion Guide
Discuss the questions below with your family. These can be asked during mealtimes, in the car, before bed, etc.)
Adults Ask:
For Elementary:
Ever had too much of anything? Drinking soda, sleeping in, or playing video games? With God’s help, we can know when to stop and escape something bad that might happen to us. Bottom Line: We need to know when to stop!
Can you have too much of anything? How can having too much of something be bad for you?
What is something that you want to do a better job of controlling this week?
Can you ever have too much of the Holy Spirit?
For Preschoolers:
This week we learned about the house built on the rock. Jesus uses this illustration to teach us that wisdom is always the best foundation for life. Bad weather can come and go, but nothing will wash away what you built on a foundation of wisdom. But foolishness, that is like a foundation of sand. Whatever you are building is not going to stand for long.
What is better: Building your house on the rock or on the sand? Why?
Out of all the stories that Jesus taught, what story is your favorite? (The Lost Sheep, The Man with Big Barns, The Good Samaritan, or The House Built on the Rock)
Where can we go to learn more about Jesus’ stories? (Church, the Bible)
Kids Ask:
What does it mean to live a “holy life”?
Do you think you walk in holiness every day? Why or why not?
Can I walk in holiness too?
