Family Discussion Guide
Discuss the questions below with your family. These can be asked during mealtimes, in the car, before bed, etc.)
Adults Ask:
For Elementary:
This week we take a look at the story of Jesus and the Samaritan woman at the well. Samaria was a region that Jews in Jesus’ time tried to avoid. But rather than avoiding the region, Jesus takes His disciples straight through it and stops at Jacob’s well. Jesus changes the way the woman views the Messiah and God what God is doing in the world. She spreads the Good News of Jesus to all the people she knows. All people matter to Jesus and they should matter to us too!
Who are your favorite people to be around?
What is something you can do to show someone they matter?
When is it hard to have compassion for someone?
For Preschoolers: This week we learned about the story of Jesus and the woman at the well. The woman was from a family that didn’t get along with Jesus’ family. And that’s why she was surprised when Jesus wanted to talk to her, was kind to her, and offered to be her friend forever. Why did Jesus do that? Because Jesus loves everyone, everywhere! Not just those who look and talk like He does.
Jesus is a great friend because He loves people everywhere! What are some ways we can love people at the store?
Think about one of your best friends. How are you different from them? Even though we may look different and act different, and even like different things, we can still be friends and love them!
Who is someone that we can pray for this week? We might not know why we need to pray for them, but God knows. It’s important to think of others and care for everyone!
Kids Ask:
The Bible says it’s impossible to please God without faith. Why is that?
Have there ever been times in your life when your faith wasn’t strong? What happened?
Do I need to have faith on my own?
