Week 7 / Feb 20 - Overflow In Me: God’s Fullness / Compassion (Elementary) & Jesus Loves Everyone (Preschool)
Family Discussion Guide
Discuss the questions below with your family. These can be asked during mealtimes, in the car, before bed, etc.)
Adults Ask:
For Elementary: Today we looked at John 6. People had been clamoring to see Jesus heal and perform miracles. Even when Jesus crossed the Sea of Galilee, they followed him. When Jesus saw them, He didn’t ignore them or send them away. Instead, He had compassion for them and decided to feed them. He took a boy’s lunch of bread and fish and fed the crowd! God can use whatever little we have to help others in big ways!
What are some things you are good at?
What is something that we could do as a family to help someone else? What is something we are good at that we could do for someone else?
Open your family Bible (or Bible App on your phone) and read Micah 6:8 together with your family. What does this verse mean to you?
“The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must act with justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you life in the sight of your God.” Micah 6:8 NIrV
For Preschoolers: This week we looked at the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus was an unfriendly tax collector. He climbed down the tree and had dinner with Jesus at his house. Zacchaeus learned that Jesus loves everyone, even when they do something wrong. Jesus’ love changes our lives! Zacchaeus’ life changed when he encountered Jesus’ love: he became a money giver instead of a money stealer. It really is amazing what Jesus’ love can do!
Have you ever seen someone do something wrong? What did you think about it?
Search on YouTube for the song: “Zacchaeus Was A Wee Little Man” and listen to the song with your child.
How do you think Zacchaeus felt when Jesus invited himself over to Zacchaeus’ house? How does Jesus make you feel?
Kids Ask:
Are there any limits to what God can do?
What is the most incredible miracle you’ve ever seen God do?
What does it mean to live in the fullness of God?
