Sermon Recap
This week in The Narrow Way series, you are diving into The Way of Honor—a principle Jesus lived out boldly. As you read through the Gospels, you see how Jesus honored others, even those whom society rejected, like Zacchaeus. His approach stands in stark contrast to today’s culture, where honor is often forgotten, replaced by criticism, division, and self-promotion.
You are called to honor others, not based on whether they deserve it, but because Scripture commands it. Romans 12:10 tells you to honor others above yourself, even when it’s difficult. Jesus modeled this by spending time with outcasts, challenging cultural norms, and showing love where others showed judgment. His way of honor was not passive—it was intentional, transformative, and deeply rooted in His love for people.
You honor others in three key ways:
Your Words – Speak life, encouragement, and truth. Avoid careless, harmful speech because every word you say either honors or dishonors. Ephesians 4:29 reminds you to let your words build others up.
Your Actions – Serve others humbly, just as Jesus washed His disciples' feet. Honor is not just spoken—it’s demonstrated. Small acts of kindness, respect, and service create a lasting impact.
Your Attitude – Walk in humility, trust others, and celebrate their growth instead of feeling threatened. Philippians 2:3-4 challenges you to value others above yourself, reflecting Christ’s heart.
Honor isn’t about agreeing with everyone or ignoring wrongdoing—it’s about choosing to see people through God’s eyes. When you choose to honor others, even those who don’t honor you, you reflect the heart of Jesus. You help build unity, strengthen relationships, and bring the Kingdom of God into your daily life. Will you choose the way of honor today?

Honor isn’t about agreeing with everyone but about seeing people through God’s eyes. How can you balance standing firm in truth while still treating others with honor and respect?
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for the perfect example of honor that Jesus showed in His life. He loved, served, and valued people—especially those the world overlooked. Help me to follow His example in my own life. Teach me to honor others not based on what they deserve but because You have called me to reflect Your heart.
Lord, transform my words so that they bring life and encouragement. Shape my actions so that they reflect humility and service. Renew my attitude so that I walk in grace, choosing to trust and build up those around me. When it’s hard to honor, give me the strength to rely on Your Spirit instead of my own.
Let my life be marked by a culture of honor—one that strengthens relationships, builds unity, and reveals Your Kingdom to the world. May my heart be a place where love, respect, and humility flourish, just as it did in the life of Jesus.
In His name, I pray, Amen.
Life Application
Speak and Serve with Intentional Honor
This week, make a conscious effort to honor someone through your words and actions. Encourage a coworker, family member, or friend with uplifting words. Look for a way to serve someone—whether through an act of kindness, lending a helping hand, or simply listening with full attention. Be intentional about reflecting Jesus' heart of honor in your daily interactions.
Choose Honor in Difficult Situations
When faced with someone who dishonors or disrespects you, pause and ask God for the strength to respond with grace. Instead of reacting in frustration or defensiveness, choose to reflect Jesus’ love. Pray for that person, assume the best, and find a way to show them honor—even when it’s undeserved.
