Sermon Recap
This week on the Narrow Way journey, we focused on The Way of Surrender, rooted in the story of Jesus and the rich young ruler found in Mark 10:17–22. True surrender begins with the posture of our hearts. While the rich young ruler appeared sincere by kneeling before Jesus, his heart was not truly submitted. God looks beyond outward expressions and is deeply concerned with the inward condition of our hearts. Surrender is the cost of the Narrow Way—a call to die to self so that we may truly come alive in Christ. Every encounter with Jesus demands a response: either to receive Him or to walk away in pride.
Surrender also requires a willingness to let go. The rich young ruler’s attachment to wealth revealed the idol in his life, and he could not let go of it to follow Jesus. Real surrender will always cost us something, and we must release worldly attachments to receive what God has for us. We were never created to blend into the world but to stand apart, fully devoted to Christ. As long as we cling to what holds us back—sin, comfort, pride—we will never experience true spiritual freedom. We cannot expect to be delivered from what we continue to tolerate.
Lastly, surrender is an invitation into something far greater. Though the rich young ruler walked away, Jesus still loved him deeply, showing us that surrender must be chosen, not forced. Jesus wasn't trying to shame him but to free him by removing what ruled his heart. True surrender doesn’t come from a desire for blessings or rewards but from recognizing our desperate need for Jesus. It is not about seeking what’s in His hand, but seeking His face. To walk in surrender means to be fully committed, not halfway in but all the way in—yielding every part of our lives to follow Jesus completely.

Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
In what ways can we check the posture of our hearts to ensure we’re truly surrendered to Jesus, not just outwardly but inwardly?
What are some things in your life that may be difficult to let go of, and how might they be hindering your full surrender to God?
How does the story of the rich young ruler challenge your understanding of what it means to follow Jesus wholeheartedly?
What does it look like in your life to be “all the way in” with Jesus, and what steps can you take to move deeper into that kind of surrender?
Prayer
Jesus, I come to You with an open heart.
Help me to surrender every part of my life to You—completely and fully.
Show me the things I’m holding onto that are keeping me from following You with my whole heart. Give me the courage to let go and trust You with everything.
I don’t want to seek just what You can give—I want to know You more.
Teach me to follow You not halfway, but all the way in.
I need You, Jesus. I choose You.
In Your name I pray. Amen.
Life Application
Spend time in prayer this week asking God to reveal anything in your heart that you haven’t fully surrendered. Write it down, and intentionally take a step to let go of that area, trusting God to fill the space with His purpose and presence.
Choose one specific way to go “all in” with Jesus this week. Whether it’s through a bold act of obedience, giving up a comfort or habit that’s holding you back, or prioritizing time with Him daily—take action that reflects total surrender.
