Life Application / Accountability
This week did you take time to stop and pause, asking for God’s insight and revelation? Were you able to recall his promises then make your decisions based on what God reveals to you?
In your quiet times with the Lord this week did you ask for more revelation? If so, was anything revealed to you? What was it? If you are new to praying for revelation don’t get discouraged if you feel like nothing was revealed. Revelation comes in God’s time, keep seeking it,
Sermon Recap
This week we found ourselves examining one of the Patriarchs, the Father of Faith, Abraham. Abraham is one of the central people of the Old Testament and the covenant God makes with him is pivotal for all of humanity. We quickly see that a pattern begins between God and Abraham. God calls and Abraham obeys. God speaks and Abraham believes. Because of his deep faith God counts Abraham as righteous, in right standing with God.
In the story of Abraham and Isaac we find God asking Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac as a burnt offering to Him. Abraham’s faith is being tested. And while the reader knows this, Abraham did not in real time. Yet, Abraham trusted God and trusted the promises of God’s covenant with him; from him all the families of the earth would be blessed, that he would have as many descendants as stars in the sky, and that his son Isaac would be the one to continue the blessing of the covenant. Abraham proved his love, devotion, and commitment to God and in return God spared Isaac’s life and made another way.
When we surrender our lives to God, He does the same thing for us. Through His Son, Jesus Christ, God spares our lives from the bondage and consequences of sin. He made a way through a descendant of Abraham, Jesus Christ. There is no greater gift than the display of love, devotion, and commitment that God showed on a hill, in the very same area that Abraham brought Isaac, as He sacrificed His One and only Son for all of humanity. What God would not allow Abraham to do, He Himself did for you and for me. This is the power of the Good News of the Gospel. Just like Abraham, we praise a Lord who provides.

Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
What stood out to you most from the story of Abraham & Isaac?
Do you consider yourself someone who believes “in” God or someone who really believes Him? Define what you believe the difference is.
Have you ever felt like your faith has been tested? How have you responded?
What were some of the lessons you learned from Abraham’s response? How could you apply this to your life?
Prayer
This week pray for your faith to grow as you step out in greater obedience.
Life Application / Accountability For The Upcoming Week
This week, time to reflect. Is there anything in your life that you love God? Is your love for this person or thing hindering your devotion and love for God? Once you have prayed and reflected, lay it on the altar of God; trusting in God’s will, His time, and His outcomes. When you are checked by the holy spirit, practice fleeing from that sin.
Step out in greater obedience this week, whatever that might look like for you. Realize that the greatest outcome of greater obedience is deeper faith and richer intimacy with God.
