Life Application / Accountability
How did your reflection go last week? Is there anything in your life that you love more than God? Is your love for this person or thing hindering your devotion and love for God? Did you pray through that and surrender?
Did you take an opportunity to step out in greater obedience last week?
Sermon Recap
Taking a look at one of the Old Testament Kings of Judah, Pastor Matt puts a Father’s day twist on gaining insights from the life of Jehoshaphat. From his victories to failures, we learn the importance of following God not only in the big decisions of life, but in the every day moments and relationships too.
Key Scripture
Read through this passage together:
2 Chronicles 17-20
Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
If people were to talk about your legacy when you’re gone, what types of things would they say? Would your faith be primary or secondary? Would it be mentioned at all?
Francis Chan said, “Our greatest fear should not be of failure, but of succeeding at things in life that don't really matter.” What comes to mind when you ponder this idea?
How are you balancing your time and energy in things that truly matter vs. don’t? Are you getting the little things right? Are you leaving the right legacy for those you have influence over?
Are there any unhealthy alliances (“HOWEVERS”) in your life that don’t honor God? Take a minute to think. This could be a business relationship, romantic relationship, a group, organization, or even hobby or habit.
Prayer
2 Chronicles 16:9 says “for the eyes of the Lord range throughout the Earth to strengthen those who hearts are fully committed to him.” God search me and know me. Bring to light anything that stops me from being fully committed to you. May every area of my life: body, mind, and spirit be devoted to you. May those I have influence over see Christ in me, that I may leave a legacy and model of following your ways.
Life Application / Accountability For The Upcoming Week
If you want your legacy to be different, start spending time on the things that matter and start cutting ties with things that don’t. Commit to removing or limiting at least ONE thing that won’t contribute to the legacy you want to leave.
