Accountability
Last week, you committed to demonstrate one attribute of Jesus consistently in your daily life; love, grace, compassion, mercy, etc. How did that go? How did practicing this change your perspective and impact others around you?
Did you have some moments of divine encounter where you were able to flex your obedience muscle?
You were challenged last week to reflect every evening on one way you were able to put your faith into action that day. Share one of those moments with your group.
Sermon Recap
When we experience revival and spiritual growth in our lives and we start taking off on this fantastic spiritual journey with the Lord, it’s hardly ever smooth sailing to our destination. In fact, how many of you have entered into a season of spiritual growth before and out of nowhere experienced a roadblock or barrier that tried to stop you from reaching where God was taking you?
You were growing, your passion for God and his word were increasing, there was a fire that began to burn for the Lord and His presence, Scripture was coming alive, things were starting to click, God was giving you revelation and He seemed so close and at work in your life. Then all of a sudden there was a roadblock in the form of a revival killer or giant in your path.
You see when God begins to pour out Holy Fire on your life, giants will always show up with demonic fire extinguishers, and they only have one agenda, to kill your revival, to hinder your pursuit of Christ, and to bring you to a dead stop on the journey.
Ephesians chapter 6 talks about the spiritual weapons God has provided for us to fight with. We are going to discuss two of those weapons this week. Being fitted with the boots of readiness and the belt of truth. These two pieces of God’s Armor are critical for you to overcome the roadblocks that our enemy will put in your way along your journey.
Just to get you started as you read the passages of scripture below, here are some thoughts on these two pieces of armor.
Thoughts on Readiness: How do you stay prepared? You stay prepared daily. Daily walking with God, Daily prayer, Daily consuming His word, Daily trusting His promises, Daily living fully dependent on Him. When we live this way, There isn’t a revival killer that can stop you! You will overcome, because you are walking presence-driven and living from a place of victory in Christ.
Thoughts on the Belt of Truth: One of the greatest mistakes believers make in their journey when facing revival killers or giants who stand in their way, is their inability to recognize the lie. You see those giants standing in front of you are trying to destroy your personal revival fire. They're not just standing there looking ugly, no they are taunting you spouting out lies trying to trick you and get you to buy into one of their lies. Because if you buy into the lie, you will be stopped dead in your tracks. You’ll be stuck! You always counter the lie by declaring the truth!
Key Scripture
Read through these passages together:
Ephesians 6:10-20
Matthew 25:1-13
Matthew 16:13-20
Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
What stuck out to you when reading the story of the 10 bridesmaids?
How can we as Christ followers always live with readiness?
Peter could have gone with what the world was saying but he didn’t, instead he went with what he knew was true. How can we be better at discerning the truth in all matters?
Why is declaring the truth so important when faced with the enemy's lies?
Prayer
Dear heavenly Father, thank you for giving me all the necessary weapons that I need to defeat the lies of the enemy! You have been so faithful and so good to all your people. This week, help me to continue to walk in your truth, being ready at all times, so that nothing will be able to slow me down as I journey with you. Please give me spiritual discernment to be able to clearly see the lies of the enemy. God, you are so much greater and stronger than our enemy. I choose to always turn to you and trust in your truth and ways! Amen.
Life Application
This week, each day, ask the Lord to give you a fresh revelation of His truth. This means committing yourself to spending some time each day in prayer and reading God’s Word.
Pray each day for God to help make you prepared and ready with the discernment you need to expose the enemy's lies. Then always replace those lies with God’s Truth.
Make God your #1 passion and pursuit this week!
Don’t Forget!
Spend an hour in prayer each day
