Sermon Recap
Generosity is a biblical call for all of us because generosity is a huge part of our discipleship. Biblically we are to be good stewards of everything we have and own. Good stewards of our time, our talents, our abilities, and our money. Everything we have is because God has been good to us. It all comes from Him! Jesus talked about money a lot in scripture. He knew we all needed to make sure that controlled our money instead of our money controlling us. I love what D.L. Moody said, “When God gave Christ to this world, He gave the best He had, and He wants us to do the same.” We are all called to give back to God our best. Proverbs 3:9-10 Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. God always stays true to His promises. It has been my own experience from early on in my walk with Christ, that His blessing always flowed when I committed to give a tenth of what I receive back to Him. This is called tithing. This is an act of obedience and blessing always flows when we walk in obedience. There is so much scripture written about generosity and how we should deal with our money. I don’t have time to get into all those here, but there are a few listed below for you to look up and read.
The 3 key thoughts from Pastor John on Sunday were these:
When people’s words and behavior consistently don’t line up, it’s their behavior that is telling the truth.
Stingy hearts are closed hearts; open hearts are generous hearts.
God is generous with those who are generous.

Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
Does money control you? Are you a joyful and generous giver? Why or why not?
What kind of importance did money seem to have to those in the early church? What stood out from the scriptures you read about what was important to the early church believers?
Do you tithe biblically and give back a tenth to the Lord? Do you believe His promises are true? That when you give generously and give your tithe back to Him that He will bless you beyond what you could have ever imagined?
Do you believe the statement, “You can not outgive God”? Tithing and being generous is the only thing in scripture where God says go ahead and test me in this and see if I won’t be faithful. Do you have the faith to trust that what God says and promises is true? Go ahead, commit to tithe and trust the Lord. See what He will do!
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, help me to become the generous person you planned for me to be. The kind of person that trusts wholeheartedly in You, your promises and your provision. You have never failed me and I know You never will. I choose now to trust you with my money. To give 10% back to your church. Money will never have control over me again. I will never be able to outgive you God! Thank you for the generosity you have always shown to me. Amen!
Life Application
Choose this week to give some of your money away. Help someone in need, pay for someone’s groceries, buy someone a meal, tithe 10% of your paycheck back to the church. Watch how God will measure out and pour forth great blessing upon your life.
