Sermon Recap
This week Pastor John reminded us of the Holy Spirit's presence within believers, which empowers us and produces His fruit in our lives. This past Sunday was about the fruit of kindness. Galatians 5:16-25 is our foundational passage on the Fruits of the Spirit. In this passage Paul contrasts living by the flesh versus walking and being led by the Spirit. If any of us are to produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit, then we must keep our eyes and our hearts focused on Him.
Kindness is defined as selflessly considering others before ourselves, echoing Jesus' command to treat others as we wish to be treated.
Using biblical examples, such as David's kindness to Mephibosheth and Jesus' compassionate interactions with society's marginalized, Pastor John emphasized kindness as a core attribute of God, rooted in love and honoring others. We have all been challenged to emulate Jesus' example of kindness, even amidst interruptions and societal norms, prioritizing God's agenda over our own. Above all, if the Holy Spirit is to produce any of His fruit in our lives we must surrender daily to Him, allowing supernatural kindness to flow out of our lives, naturally drawing others to Christ.
