Sermon Recap
This week we tackled the fruit of Self-Control. When talking about the significance of self-control in the Christian life, we must emphasize the indispensable role that the Holy Spirit plays in enabling individuals to exercise self-control. Drawing from Galatians 5, the contrast between living in self-control and being out of control is starkly portrayed. While the acts of the flesh manifest in various forms of indulgence and gratification, the fruit of the Spirit includes self-control, which is unattainable without the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. The truth of the matter is none of us can produce the fruit of self-control on our own. We must rely on the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
Through a couple different biblical narratives, Pastor John illustrated both the consequences of lacking self-control, as seen in the downfall of King David, and the triumph of self-control, exemplified by Joseph's resistance to temptation. These stories underscore the critical importance of self-control in honoring God and avoiding destructive behaviors. Additionally, the pastor highlighted the pervasive impact of the tongue, emphasizing the need for self-control in speech to prevent harm and division within Christian communities.
At the end of the day we are all confronted with a call to commit to walking in step with the Holy Spirit, producing all the fruits of the Spirit including self-control. By relying on the Holy Spirit's power, believers can cultivate self-control in all aspects of life producing this vital fruit of the Spirit.

What are some areas of self-control that you know you need God’s help in?
Is Self-control an issue of will power?
Who sources you with the strength and power to operate in Self-control?
How does the Holy Spirit actually source you with the fruit of self-control?
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to be sourced by the Holy Spirit. I submit and surrender all my life so that the Holy Spirit might work and flow through me producing His fruit. Check my heart when I begin to operate on my own strength. I want to always be led by you and be obedient to your leadership. In every area of my life I ask you to help me produce and bear the fruit of self-control. Thank you Holy Spirit in advance for leading me. Amen.
Life Application
This week each day, focus on the fruit self-control. Ask the Lord to bring up any areas He wants you to surrender and continually submit your heart and mind to the Holy Spirit. Ask the Lord each day to specifically empower you to operate in the fruit of self-control.
