Sermon Recap
In this week’s sermon Pastor David discussed the importance of confidence in Christ, faith, and encouragement. We explored these topics by taking a deep dive into a story from Acts–Paul’s shipwreck. Within this narrative, the Apostle Paul stands firm in God’s promises despite the challenging circumstances he faces. Disasters and bloodshed are avoided because of Paul’s confidence in Christ, as well as his willingness to encourage those around him.
The sermon highlighted the importance of displaying your faith to others amidst challenging circumstances, and the principle of contagious faith. In light of Paul’s journey, Pastor David proposed that believers must first operate in faith before they can expect to witness and operate in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
In light of Paul’s first speech, how can we, as Christ followers, be encouraging to others while refusing to compromise on the truth?
Have there been instances within your faith journey where you have found it challenging to trust God’s promises? How did you respond?
In light of Paul’s actions in Acts 28, how can we prepare to minister to those around us effectively through not only our words, but our actions?
Prayer
Father, obedience to your word and to your commands takes great faith. In order to reveal you to the world, I ask for a greater measure of faith. Help me to trust you at all times, and in all circumstances. In the situations where I find myself doubting you, I ask that you would overcome my unbelief. Lord, would your church truly be the warm, confident, and encouraging light that you called them to be. Jesus, for your glory, would you prepare my heart to do the type of works that you did while you were with us. Would you move in power in and through us. In your name I pray, amen!
Life Application
Commit to asking God for a greater measure of faith and trust in him each day. Having trust in God similar to the Apostle Paul cannot be developed without persistently seeking him.
Throughout your day, prayerfully remain open to encouraging anyone you come in contact with. Remember–the Holy Spirit living in us can speak to us amid the mundane or the extraordinary moments throughout our day.
