Sermon Recap
This week we started part #4 of our Sacred Rhythm Series - “Sacred Rhythms of Ministry”. Part #4 started with Pastor John talking about the Sacred Rhythm of Saying Yes! If we are truly going to be carriers of His Kingdom, be sourced with the Holy Spirit, bring the realities of Heaven to earth, do what Jesus did, and lead people into a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ then we have to be willing to say YES to the leading of the Holy Spirit everyday just like Jesus did.
Our YES is so important to living yielded to the heart of God. We have to say yes to being the salt of the earth (Matt 5:13). We have to say yes to being a light to the world (Matt 5:14). We have to say yes to being Christ’s ambassadors (II Corinthians 5: 20). When we say YES, the Holy Spirit can then operate freely through us. Our simple YES will lead us to experiencing God;s miraculous power, miracles and Kingdom advancement. Your Yes could lead to a National Revival that could transform churches, communities and shake the nations.
When you accepted Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and said yes to Him, you also said yes to his mission. Christ’s mission was to reconcile the world with Himself. Now we take up His mission of reconciliation. It’s not a matter of having to, it’s a matter of Get To! We have been allowed to operate and function in, with, and through the power of the Holy Spirit. It is such a privilege and honor! But it is also a responsibility that so many say NO to! Will you say Yes?
Key Scripture
Read through these passages together:
Matthew 5:13-16
II Corinthians 5:17-21
Acts 8:4-8, 26-40 (the Story of Philip)
Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
How does the concept of saying "Yes" to the Holy Spirit's leading resonate with your personal journey of faith? Have there been moments where you felt challenged to say "Yes" to God's direction? Have there been moments when you failed?
Reflecting on the analogy of being salt and light in the world, how can we ensure that we maintain our "saltiness" and brightness in our daily lives, particularly in challenging circumstances?
The sermon emphasizes the importance of daily surrender and intimacy with God. How do you cultivate a daily practice of yielding to the Holy Spirit in your life?
The story of Philip in Acts 8 illustrates the power of saying "Yes" to God's call. Are there instances in your life where you have seen the results of obedience to God's prompting? How did it impact you and those around you?
Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to operate daily being sourced by the Holy Spirit. Give me ears to hear your voice and a heart that says YES to what you ask of me. I know in everything you ask me to do that you will give me the power, strength, wisdom, and knowledge to accomplish the task. Thank you for loving me and trusting me enough to advance your kingdom through me. Amen!
Life Application
Take time each day for intentional prayer and reflection, asking the Holy Spirit to guide your decisions and actions.
Identify one specific area in your life where you feel prompted to say "Yes" to God's leading, whether it's in reaching out to someone in need, stepping out of your comfort zone to share your faith, or committing to a new spiritual discipline. Take practical steps to act on this prompt, trusting in God's provision and guidance.
