Sermon Recap
This week Pastor John MacDonald talked about How important the Word of God is to our daily lives. We need to know and remember the promises that God has given us and the truth we find in His Word. We are always going to come up against seasons in our lives where we are not sure what to do. We are going to face challenges and obstacles. We will also face temptation and attacks from our enemy meant to steal, kill, and destroy us (John 10:10). This is why it is always so important to know, rely on, and stand on the powerful truth of God’s Word. To stand upon His truth we must know it. It must be written on our hearts and minds.
Jesus used God’s word to counteract every temptation the enemy threw at Him in the wilderness. Knowing God’s Word allows us to make confident and bold decisions based on God’s powerful truth. We are commanded in Ephesians 6:13-14 to stand our ground against the schemes of our enemy. We stand our ground by putting the armor of God upon our lives daily. God has given us every weapon and tool we need to be successful against the enemy and in our lives. We grow in our faith by knowing God’s word.
Paul tells us to take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the enemy. In Roman times Roman soldiers would soak their shields in water so that the flaming arrows of their enemies would be rendered ineffective and put out when they hit the shield. Imagine the imagery of a shield soaked in the water of God’s Word. Paul was describing what we should do as believers to become invincible to the arrows that our enemy Satan shoots our way and that is to be soaked and saturated in the truth of God’s Word, building our faith and causing us to stand firm in any situation.

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, I want to walk with your full armor upon my life daily. Teach me how to put your armor on and use the weapons you have provided for my victory. Help me to fall in love with your Word and to read it daily, so that my life might be soaked in your truth, making it hard for the enemy to deceive me. Let not only my faith grow as I learn and trust in your Word, but may my boldness and confidence in You grow as well. I surrender my life to your will and to your ways. I love you Lord! Amen.
