Sermon Recap
As your pastor, I was excited to share with you the importance of the Sacred Rhythm of fasting during our Sacred Rhythms series. This week, we explored the idea of self-denial and its positive implications in our walk with Christ. We began with Matthew 16:24, where Jesus invites us to deny ourselves, take up our cross, and follow Him, emphasizing the intimacy this self-denial can lead to. Fasting represents one form of self-denial, and it is an essential spiritual practice that unlocks new depths of intimacy with God. Self-denial is not about suffering; rather, it is a way to draw closer to God, crucifying our old sinful nature. There are many blessings we receive from practicing the sacred rhythm of fasting. We highlighted a few:
Creating space for God.
Increasing our ability to hear His voice.
Accelerating heart change.
Giving us a Kingdom mindset.
