Life Application / Accountability
Did you position yourself well this week? What did you choose to fast to replace it with time with God?
What are the daily things you learned, heard, or experienced during your time with God? Did you give thanks each night?
Sermon Recap
Until you know the root of the problem, you’ll never be able to find the solution.
As we face broken circumstances in our culture and personal lives, we can often start spinning our wheels trying to fix it. This week, Pastor Tim reminded us that every bit of sin and brokenness that we encounter in ourselves and the world finds its roots in The Fall. Everything that God created and declared as “very good” was corrupted in one moment. Because of Adam and Even’s disobedience, all of creation was subjected to pain and difficulty.
However, just as one act introduced sin and brokenness, another single act redeemed it- the death and resurrection of our Savior, Jesus Christ. With this understanding comes great power! If sin is the root of every problem, then Jesus is always the solution.
Key Scripture
Read through these passages together:
Genesis 3:1-20
Romans 5:17
Discussion Questions
Discuss together, pushing yourself toward transparency. The more we are authentic and humble with one another, the more we can grow in Christ.
The enemy comes to “steal, kill and destroy.” What do you feel he’s consistently trying to rob you of?
The enemy’s main tactic is deception; getting us to doubt the Word of God. Is there any doubt you’ve been wrestling with?
What problem(s) are you currently facing in your life that you’ve been seeking a solution for? Are you leaning into your own strength, or surrendering it to Jesus in prayer?
What are some practices that will help you lean into Jesus for this problem?
Share a testimony or reflect on when Jesus came through for you during a difficult trial.
Prayer
More than a token prayer, commit to interceding for one another this week. If you’re using this guide on your own, reach out to a Christ-follower and ask them to join you in prayer. Consider fasting and praying, showing your full dependance on Jesus, and watch how He moves and intervenes on your behalf.
Life Application / Accountability For The Upcoming Week
In your personal prayer time, confess to the Lord the areas you’ve been trying to fix yourself rather than surrender to Him.
Combat the enemy’s deception with truth found in the Word of God. Daily read scripture that tells of God’s faithfulness, power, and protection.
When you sense the enemy trying to deceive you, take those thoughts captive in the name of Jesus.
